MEC TLHAPI OPENS IPELEGENG MULTIPURPOSE CENTRE WORTH R19M

MEC for North West Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation (ACSR), Galebekwe Tlhapi has officially opened Ipelegeng Multipurpose Centre and handed it over to Mamusa Local Municipality, Mayor Seitealeng Chelechele on Friday, 03 February 2022 in Ipelegeng Town, Schweizer-Reneke.
This state-of-the-art facility is an initiative to
enhance indoor sports as Basketball, Volleyball, Netball, Table Tennis, Hockey,
Indoor Soccer, Badminton and board games.
The centre is well placed in Ipelegeng Township which comprise of a huge yard that can accommodate vehicles, an office for administration, ticket office, kitchen, storage room, changing rooms, built in stage, stands and easy access for persons with disabilities.

options to cater for various sporting disciplines such as Basketball,
Volleyball, Netball, Table Tennis, Hockey, Soccer, Badminton, board games with
appropriate surfaces.
Among the dignitaries who joined MEC Tlhapi at this
occasion were North West Sports Confederation President, Thebe Sekoto,
Provincial Recreation Council, Patrick van Neel.
MEC Tlhapi handed over playing attire, balls and poles to
Classic Academy Football, MA V FC, Shooting Stars Netball, Mamusa Volley Ball
and Eye Candy Netball Team.
Mayor Chelechele urged the community members to take care
of the centre and keep their eyes always to report any criminal activities that
might occur.
“This centre grand young people athletes an opportunity
to be future stars, learn different sporting codes and our creatives can also
nurture their skills here” MEC Tlhapi.
Former Idols SA contestant, Dineo Moseki, Rock of Ages
Gospel Choir, Mompati Arts Choral, Ipelegeng Community Arts and Salvation Brass
Band entertained audience who were in attendance.
Athletes also had the opportunity to show case how
various indoor sporting codes are being played and how they going to utilize
the facility.
The Ipelegeng Multipurpose Centre cost the Department close to R19 million rands and not R119 million as was erroneously reported.
