  HIGH SCHOOL LEARNERS ENGAGE IN ORAL HISTORY   By Maboni Kgabi TALKIN HISTORY: Learners, departmental officials and history teacher Mamphitha Dongwe (far right) High school history learners from Motswedi High School in Ramotshere Moilwa recently took part in an oral history workshop, under the guidance of the Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation (Acsr). The purpose of the workshop was to share information for teachers to better facilitate and manage Oral History in their classes. For their part, learners acquire skills to become better in dealing with activities related to Oral History. The workshop provided learners with skills and techniques for conducting oral history interviews, and the channels available for publishing and sharing the acquired knowledge. A grade 11 leaner, Ratanang Bome at the school said she was grateful to be part of the workshop as it had afforded them an opportunity to make sound career choices. NW TO HOST ANNUAL SPORTS AWARDS

  NW TO HOST ANNUAL SPORTS AWARDS By Vusi Kama The North West Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation (Acsr) will on March 4 hold the 2021 Provincial Sports Awards at Sun City Superbowl. Hosted in association with the Provincial Sports Confederation, the weekend’s event is in place of last year’s, which could not be held owing to the Covid-19 regulations. Athletes, coaches, journalists and administrators will be decorated in 21 categories, including Premier’s and MEC’s Awards. “The idea is to honour individuals and teams from our communities and schools who have excelled both on and off the field over the past 12 months,’’ said Acsr MEC Mme Virginia Tlhapi. “The awards are held in line with the South African Sport and Recreation Plan.’’ The event will also recognise men and women with disabilities.
