Johannesburg- An exuberant recent media activation held in Sandton sponsored by the Department of Arts, Culture, Sports, and Recreation organized by Mega Works brought optimism and excitement to the local and national artists. The Department brought together the big guns in the music industry from Mahikeng and those still digging gold in Johannesburg.

The Department would like to express its deepest gratitude and appreciation to the patrons of Mahika Mahikeng who continued to be loyal to the brand and followed it to the multiple towers of Sandton City in Johannesburg which included the Mahikeng FM reverberating live from Sandton. The impressive and successful event was captained by the homeboy, a member of legendary group Bongo Maffin, music producer, actor and television presenter, Stoan Seate will go down memory lane. Some artists who graced the auspicious occasion with the likes of Jabu Hlongwane from Joyous Celebrations, Molemi,  Aus Tebza, Mma Ausi, Bucy Radebe, Mdu Masilela, Botlhale Boikanyo, TS, Tebogo Moloi, Kgethang Konese, HBK Live Act just to mention a few.

ACSR was well represented by the Chief Director of arts and culture Mr Thabo Mabe and head of communication Mr Shuping Sebolecwe as well as the Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conversation and Tourism. As done previously, Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conversation and Tourism will assist in commissioning a broader socio-economic impact study to assess the actual socio-economic impact of the festival on the economy of the province and the Mahikeng Municipality in particular.

The Sandton edition was covered by the mainstream media based in Johannesburg and media houses from North West Province.

The platform provided an opportunity for the festival to attract the new market and encourage people from all over the country to attend this festival. The same sentiments were echoed by artists who were part of the launch as well as the events and marketing gurus.   

The festival is set to take place at Mmabatho Stadium Parking Lot from Mrch 17-19 featuring Gospel Night, Jazz Festival, Scorpion Kings & Motswako

She further wished them luck with their entries into the South African Sports Awards to be held later in the year. Orlando Pirates star, Mannapule Saleng, who hails from Bloemhof, bagged Sports Star of The Year Award at the award ceremony.   The footballer, who rushed to Sun City after the Soweto derby against Kaizer Chiefs, complimented Junior Masangane (Mmabana Gymnastics) and Tshiamo Matlhoane (NW Gymnastics), who competed alongside him in the same category.   AARON MOLETE BIOGRAPHY Compiled by: Ntwaetsile Peter Keikabile Aaron Molete, born 27 August 1917 and died 24 November 1984, was a member of both the South African Communist Party (SACP) and African National Congress (ANC) who worked for New Age. According to LONG WALK TO FREEDOM (p322) Aaron was one of the distinguished activists of his time. His involvement in the anti-apartheid activism led to his long term imprisonment at Pretoria Central Prison today known as Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Services and eventually on Robben Island. Mr Molete, who was 40 years old then, was arrested and charged with contravention of the provisions of the Suppression of Communism Act of 1950 as amended. The Act as amended declared the South African Communist Party an unlawful organization. He was sentenced to three years imprisonment.
